Tired, confused. Worried, bemused. Excited, moved. A collection of views

Yeh been doing a fair bit of revision tonight, got an exam in about 6 hours, but I need to write something down.

Does innate ideas directly imply a supreme being? In fact does empiricism directly imply a supreme being? I'm not sure but I got into a circular argument with myself earlier and that was weird.

Anyway having had a long discussion with a friend I have loads of separate things running through my head and therefore want to write a list:

Lucid dreaming, beck, tetley, reality, Waking Life, identity, Putnam, vale, Kingsmill, 10:30, adverbialist, Moses, absolutist, Dallas Mavericks, slave boy, awake when dreaming or dreaming when awake?, holy ectoplasm (what film is that?), Crouch scored!?, Philosophy everything or nothing?, Economics one giant fake?, is that the time? uhoh...

anyway enough of my sly product placement, more words keep on slipping in and out of my mind as I write this and I need to go to bed.

"Do you move through the bar with a glass in your hand, thinking too hard about the way you stand"

Firstly Elbow are absolutely fantastic, perfect for revision, perfect when you want to chillout, perfect pretty much anytime. Seems a long time ago that I saw them in Cornwall (I actually can't remember what year it was, hingley... 2002?) but they were good then not brilliant, but awesome when I saw them a few months ago. If you haven't ever given them a go then do because well they rock.

Secondly, those things in urinals, the plastic things that well I guess stop the yellow things going away, I dunno how better to explain them. Anyway the ones in the Notts uni bar are made by "swisher" (I think, unless that is what they are called I dunno I didn't really want to examine it any closer, plus the guy on my left may have wondered what I was doing) I was wondering:

a) who first umm invented them?
b) why? They seem pretty redundant and well if I was an inventor I don't think that would be the first major improvement I would come up with, maybe that's why im not an inventor.

I also want to know if "swisher" have a monopoly on it, are they the only company swamping the urinals with this pretty useless thing. I apologise if in fact they have a virtue which I haven't noticed. So do other people's unis/work places etc have the same manufacturer? I'm going to check in Birmingham for sure.

Anyway I am going to watch the football.

"Other people wouldn't like to hear you"

Arghhhhh! I can't sleep. ploppy dingo is what I say.

I think its because I'm handing in an essay in a few hours and I know its gunna get a bad mark but I've spent too long trying to work out what I'm meant to have written. But its also because I have this pretty urgent blog to write, I think everyone will agree it is pretty important and not something I should delay...

do people sit by themselves in lectures because:

a) they are loners
b) their friends are ill or whatever
c) they enjoy their own company
d) it's easier to sleep that way
e) nobody likes having to lend people stuff
f) 3 seats are better than 1
g) they got to the lecture late
h) they are worried they will have to sit next to someone who writes this kind of crap
I) of a selection of the above

I think I am a) and c) although f) is pretty true. I think I would embrace h)
In my defense this is only theology since I only sit by myself in philosophy if b) is the case, yeh right aky. Why am I saying this in my defense; what's frickin wrong with sitting by yourself?

However I do enjoy sitting at the back and pondering why the other people are sitting where they are. There must be some kind of 'probability function' (or whatever you call it) you could use for this, I reckon by the end of the course of lectures for a particular module you could quite accurately predict where every other person will sit, or at least if there are people who stick to the same place and people who drift around. This is of course assuming you would want to do such a thing and not just try and pass the module.

man I need some sleep.
