"I figured it out, I can see it again"

So I skip a seminar in the hope that I will lend my mind to better things, delving into the mind of Marx, but new distractions always slip in. Memories of sixth form friends and others fade in, Ryan Adams seems appropriate for a bit as his insistent summer guitars always remind me of opportunities passed, but what would sixth form be without the usual music I love so much and so my speakers soon have "this modern love" playing. Marx is to one side waiting for a new generation of followers, although I'm pretty sure I could never have such radical views.

Why do bottles of Vittel have an expiry date?

I'm surrounded by books I haven't and should have read, Hawking has been on my to read list since my uni interviews, and Schrodinger's cat should really be returned to Mr Dewar. Having looked more closely at my stack of books I notice that the Qur'an is placed higher than the Bible and wonder if this has any significance, but then Si's Swordfish DVD is higher still so it better not be relevant.

Does anyone else agree that slinkys are the most impressive toy/scientific display of waves ever made?

Right back to work.

Quote

"Does it require deep intuition to comprehend that man's ideas, views and conceptions, in one word, man's conciousness, changes with every change in the conditions of his material existence, in his social relations and in his social life?"

Karl Marx (The communist manifesto)

I'm blogging this for two reasons; one, I think it's an interesting quote (you decide for yourself) two, it has relevance to a majority of what I have covered and I think it is a fundamental idea in philosophy and theology.

oh and I think it's funny that the dictionary on this thing always has a problem with the word 'blogging' I would have thought they would have sorted that out.

Her rabid glow, is like braille to the night...

I realised a few nights ago that i have been listening to Interpol less and less since starting uni and was trying to decide whether or not i had finally got over my teenage crush, but then i listened to them again and it all came flooding back...

The first 30 seconds (well whole) of "Obstacle 1", the mood changes of "The New", the last minute and a half of "PDA", the effect used on "Take You On A Cruise" which at one point in time seemed so hard for us to copy, the way "leif erikson" and its lyrics never fail to make me smile and the cleverness (to me) of the rhyming and timing with the music i am always aiming to recreate. TOTBL is such a rediculously good album, and seems to improve with every listen.

Yeh in terms of getting my heart rate up the second album doesn't do a lot, but on the rare occasions that a song is played in a club it will always be from the later album and my indie pointing fingers will dance for 5 minutes. It's not just the music that i still like, it's the fact that since i spent so long listening to them i have so many associated memories, im not sure i will ever shake them off.

Oh dear, im still in love :)
